It’s been 15 years since Caravan World Rhythms started bringing music and dance from across the globe to Vancouver, while presenting artists from our own wealth of cultural communities.

Founder and managing artistic director Robert Benaroya is marking the occasion with two nights of internationally inspired revelry.

This Friday (January 16), two of the city’s most innovative world-music outfits—the Persian-Sufi Vashaan Ensemble, with singer Soleyman Vaseghi, and Haram, a 10-piece powerhouse of Arabic music and jazz—play at Performance Works, where on Saturday (January 17) the anniversary celebrations themselves will feature the rocking roots and blues of Bocephus King, the dancers and musicians of Alma de España Flamenco, and Balkan brass band Orkestar Slivovica, plus other guest artists.
