No, you're not seeing things: If you're strolling down Cartwright Street on Granville Island this weekend, keep an eye out for a hologram projection appearing on the exterior of Boca del Lupo's Fishbowl.

That projection is just one facet of Apparition, one of two productions being held at the venue this weekend. It, and The Symposium are both part of the theatre company's Expedition series, which features immersive pieces of speculative fiction centered around the topic of climate change, set 150 years in the future.

In The Symposium, prominent scientists, activists, and humourists speak for 10 minutes at a time from the perspective of an individual living in the year 2167. Artistic director Jay Dodge says they'll cover everything from agriculture to fashion, and how those areas might be affected by climate change.

"It's a real mix-up of performers, but also professionals from other realms that we're drawing in to give these 10 minute talks," said Dodge earlier this week in an interview with the Straight.

Speakers will include acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Mark Leiren-Young, actress Maeve McGrath, UBC professor Steve Williams, and more.

Those interested can watch the series live at the Fishbowl (1398 Cartwright Street), or from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to Facebook Live. Boca del Lupo will be broadcasting The Symposium via live feed on November 26 (Saturday) starting at 4 p.m and running until 7:30 p.m.

Apparition, the outdoor installation that leads up to Saturday's speaker series, presents participants with a vision from the future.

"It's an installation where you approach an apparition, an aboriginal woman from the future giving you post-stereotypical native wisdoms," said Dodge of the piece. "Some are fun and some are delightfully horrifying."

The installation will run on the north side of the Fishbowl everyday between 1 and 7 p.m. until November 26.

Both Apparition and The Symposium are free to experience. Seating for the speaker series live at the Fishbowl will be available on a first come, first serve basis, and people are free to enter and leave between speakers at anytime.
