With images of wildfires sweeping the province, everyone is in an understandably sombre mood. This week, Vancouver TheatreSports is offering some relief—both comic and financial—with a special improv comedy show this Wednesday night (July 12).

Net proceeds from Wednesday night’s 9:15 performance at Granville Island’s Improv Centre will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross’ British Columbia Fires Appeal as a fire relief effort. The cast will also be passing the hat at all shows this week to raise additional funds for the Canadian Red Cross.

“People across the country have been horrified by this disaster and we all want to help,” said executive director Jay Ono in a press release. “Two of our company have family who were evacuated from 100 Mile House last night. It is our hope that other arts companies will follow our lead and help support the fund.”

Tickets for Wednesday’s show can be purchased here.
