It’s rare indeed for a mother and a son in a jazz family to release albums at the same time, rarer still to celebrate them together in Vancouver under one roof. At the Ironworks tonight (December 13) chanteuse and saxophonist Astrid Sars performs songs from her new album, Full Life, with her stellar seven-piece band and will also screen the short film “Turn Me Loose” that features her music. The Tim Sars Trio, fronted by baritone-saxophonist Tim Sars, will play jazz in a vintage and carnivalesque vein from its debut, Inside Passage, and show a video of its song “Yeep!”
