Anthony Roth Costanzo at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts
He rocks it high and sweet. Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo comes to his local debut trailing a trainload of praise. Opera News says he has a countertenor of “strength, clarity, facility and beauty, but he is also a marvelous actor”. A bona fide young star, the Glimmerglass and Metropolitan Opera regular drew his wildest accolades earlier this year, in Met’s live HD broadcast of The Enchanted Island. For his Vancouver Recital Society appearance on Wednesday (December 5) at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, Costanzo will show his range in repertoire by the likes of Benjamin Britten, Franz Liszt, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and George Gershwin. Canadian pianist Bryan Wagorn takes the keys.
