Coastal City Ballet makes its debut with Paquita and Mixed Repertoire

Comments

Vancouver’s newest ballet company is ready to make its public debut: Coastal City Ballet, whose focus is on the classics, presents Paquita and Mixed Repertoire on Friday (November 18) at the ACT in Maple Ridge, and on November 25 at West Vancouver’s Kay Meek Centre. The programming is intriguing: selections from Victor Marius Petipa’s Paquita, staged by Joy Munk, and Ben Stevenson’s Three Preludes, set to music by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Also on the bill: pieces by Charlene Hart, a top-five finalist on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, Science Friction’s Farley Johansson, and Coastal City Ballet artistic director Li Yaming.

I just saw this show, and it was wonderful. It was so great to see such talented young people on stage. They had so much energy, and the show was very good. I recommend it, if you can catch it.
