The Cultch's IGNITE! mentorship showcase kicks off tonight
The Cultch’s IGNITE! mentorship showcase of young talent kicks off tonight (May 31), and runs through Saturday (June 2).
The participants will present work developed with their professional mentors, with whom they have been partnered since January 2012, in the fields of poetry, dance, and music for the stage.
Tonight, the stage belongs to spoken word artists Mike Johnston, Jasmine Harvey, Savannah-Rain McDermott, Mo Lawrence, and Natasha King, who were mentored by Barbara Adler, Brendan McLeod, and RC Weslowski.
Tomorrow (June 1), young dancers Natalie Gan, Areli Moran, Lauryn Elliot, Joshua Fernandez, Adrienne McLeod, Vivian Hong, and Daisy McConnell will perform. They were mentored by Amber Funk Barton, Josh Martin, and Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg.
The final night of the showcase, Saturday, will feature songwriters Emera Howden-Gareau, Kate Kurdyak, Saul Chabot, Irene Chou, Lily Snowden-Fine, Maren King, Michael Wadham, and Mark Charles. Their mentors were Aidan Knight, Kathryn Calder, and Giorgio Magnanensi.
