Early voices pop up all over Vancouver
Double your pleasure with two very different choral experiences this week. Until now, Vancouver hasn’t had a professional vocal ensemble dedicated to early music. Saturday evening (June 2), at Redeemer Lutheran Church, will bring the debut of Stellaria, a local ensemble devoted to music from the Renaissance and Baroque eras. The group will perform music by Claudio Monteverdi, Clément Janequin, and others. Elsewhere, rants about public transit, condos, and local government are fodder for the Complaints Choir. Vancouver New Music is coordinating the third installment of its musical bitch session, with songs by Russell Wallace. Free shows take place at various outdoor locations Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. outside the Mount Pleasant Community Centre. Don’t come crying to us if you miss it.
