Four out of eight Hnatyshyn Foundation prizes go to young Vancouver artists
Young Vancouverites have snapped up half of the national Hnatyshyn Foundation arts awards.
Four out of eight of the winners of the 2010 Developing Artists Grants hail from here. Each will receive $10,000 to further their studies. They are:
Jocelyn Lai, 19, of Vancouver, who won the classical-piano grant, and studies music at UBC
Daniel Reynolds, 21, who took the Oscar Peterson Grant for Jazz Performance and is finishing up his degree at McGill University's Schulich School of Music
Dancer Danielle Gould, who was awarded the classical-ballet prize, and will study at the Goh Ballet
Barbara Kozcii, 31, who won the grant for English theatre acting, and will finish up her drama studies at UBC this fall
