Goh Ballet's Coppelia at the Vancouver Playhouse
The Goh Ballet wraps up its season with a comic classic about a lifelike doll who wins the heart of a villager. Coppelia, based on a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann called “Der Sandmann” (“The Sandman”), was composed by Léo Delibes and premiered in 1870. Mounted here on Friday and Saturday (June 1 and 2) at the Vancouver Playhouse, it will feature choreography by Goh senior faculty members Vera Solovyeva and Nikolay Levitsky. Expect it to be as light and polished as a perfect pirouette.
