Mörkö at the Russian Hall

Comments

Now here’s a show that sounds monstrously fun: a group of local artists is mounting a musical, multimedia show based on interviews with Vancouverites about, yes, monsters. Even spookier, if you ask us, is the fact that the team builds a visual and aural landscape using only the audio recordings and objects found in a basement closet of live-animator Cindy Mochizuki’s childhood home. The collaborators also include sound designer Emma Hendrix, director James Long, and lighting designer James Proudfoot. If you dare to face this city’s bogeymen, head down to Russian Hall (600 Campbell Avenue) on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 26 and 27, with two shows per night at 7 and 9 p.m.) for mörkö, a coproduction with Morko Projects and Vancouver New Music.
