Musica intima at St. Philips Anglican Church

As the cherry blossoms emerge on Vancouver streets, musica intima is inviting audiences to celebrate spring with the sound of birdsongs. This Friday and Sunday (April 13 and 15) at St. Philips Anglican Church, the vocal ensemble will present settings of texts inspired by the songs of birds—including Vancouver composer Ed Henderson’s choral work Birdsong, based on the 13th-century Sufi poetry of Rumi. Vancouver-based Persian tar player Ali Razmi will perform as a soloist, while Vancouver whirling dervish Tanya Evanson adds some magic to the proceedings.
