Painter Joe Smith and arts administrator Donna Moore join B.C. Arts Council
The B.C. Arts Council has announced the appointment of two board members: Donna Moore and Joe Smith.
Moore has been the executive director of the Kelowna Art Gallery, a reference librarian and Okanagan College, and on the council of the B.C. Museums Association, according to a news release issued by the council.
Smith is a watercolour artist and business consultant who lives in Union Bay on Vancouver Island. He was a staff artist at the Montreal Gazette, later became public relations and promotion manager at the Hamilton Spectator, and now teaches a marketing course at North Island College.
Smith is also past president of the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce and former cochair of the Canadian Country Music Awards.
The B.C. Arts Council provides arm's-length funding to cultural organizations, performers, and museums through a peer-assessment process. It spent $18.3 million in 2011–12, according to its most recent annual report.
