Public Market Pick of the Fringe at Performance Works

Was it just us or was this a particularly strong year of Vancouver International Fringe Festival offerings? If you missed the boat, you still have a chance to catch some of the top shows: the annual Public Market Pick of the Fringe brings back some of the best 10 of the bunch from now until Sunday (September 23) at Performance Works. Catch critically acclaimed Loon and Fishbowl tonight (September 20), with the following shows on the next consecutive evenings: Romance and God Is a Scottish Drag Queen; CAPSLOCK: The Musical, Til Death Do We Part, and Peter ‘n’ Chris Explore Their Bodies; and Riverview High: The Musical and Bookworm. Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m., Pick Plus stages two shows of the hit PostSecret to raise money for the Fringe. By the way, no return mentioned of Underbelly, the show whose creator, Jayson McDonald, just nabbed the Georgia Straight Critics’ Choice Award. Ya snooze, ya lose.

Really looking forward to Fishbowl tonight! Saw it already, and I'm coming back with friends. I have a feeling there's much to get out of a second viewing once the character connections are known - I want to see how it all comes together with that knowledge and discover what hidden jokes and jems are there for me!

Underbelly also won the "Cultch-ivating the Fringe" award, and will be returning to Vancoucer for a run as part of this season at the Cultch. Don't miss it again, and don't miss seeing it a second or third time either - it's THAT good.
