Ronnie Burkett at the Cultch

Comments

The artist who has almost single-handedly redefined puppetry for adults is making a one-night-only appearance at the Cultch as a fundraiser for the theatre. Ronnie Burkett, who’s been critically acclaimed for his artful, surreal, and often dark marionette shows like Billy Twinkle, Requiem for a Golden Boy, and Tinka’s New Dress, will be reading from his new work, Penny Plain, and holding a question-and-answer period with the audience on Monday night (March 14). Penny Plain, which is set to debut this fall, centres around a blind woman who decides to sit and wait for the world to end but is interrupted by everyone from a serial killer to a cross-dressing banker to talking dogs.
