Vancouver Symphony Orchestra maestro Bramwell Tovey will receive an honorary degree on Thursday morning (November 22) at UBC.

He joins biotechnology-forest pioneer Michael Wingfield and former prime minister Paul Martin, who are also being honoured as part of the university's fall convocation ceremonies.

Tovey has helmed the VSO since 2000, has led other top orchestras around the world, and is a jazz pianist and composer in his own right.
