That’sDoctor Bramwell Tovey to you. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s music director, Bramwell Tovey, will receive an honorary degree from UBC during at the coming Fall congregation this November.
Tovey is in good company: the nine other recipients of the honorary degrees include former Canadian Prime Ministers Joe Clark and Paul Martin; the iconic singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie; and noted philanthropist Robert Hung Ngai Ho, who helped UBC establish the Buddhism and Contemporary Society Program in 2005.
Seven of the degrees will be awarded during the Spring congregation this May, and three, including Tovey’s and Martin’s, will be awarded at the Fall ceremonies.
