Your Kontinent at the Richmond Cultural Centre
Get your multimedia on and check out a recent Governor General’s Award winner at the second annual Your Kontinent: Richmond International Film and Media Arts Festival, based at the Richmond Cultural Centre. Opening night on Friday (July 20) kicks off with a Digital Carnival, complete with outdoor visual projections and performances. On Saturday (July 21), GG–endowed artist (and Richmond resident, shown here) Margaret Dragu gives a live performance, while a retrospective of her boundary-breaking interdisciplinary work runs the length of the fest. Also on the roster: Theatre Conspiracy, with its interdisciplinary work-in-progress Extraction, about the rapid growth of Beijing and Fort McMurray and Chinese investment in Alberta’s tar sands (July 21), as well as Pangaea Arts’ unique mix of traditional Japanese storytelling, music, and narrative painting, on Sunday (July 22).
