ZimSculpt at VanDusen Botanical Garden

Comments

A not-so-little piece of artistic Africa has sprouted in VanDusen Botanical Garden. The range and scope of the annual summer ZimSculpt show is truly amazing: more than 300 pieces of stone sculpture by four generations of Zimbabwean artists are displayed throughout the picturesque park. If you’ve never caught the exhibit, now’s your final chance: this is the third and last year the show and sale will hit Vancouver; then it moves to another city somewhere else in the world. Stone sculpture has a long history in Zimbabwe, but you’ll be struck by its boldly contemporary look, which mixes modern sensibilities with spirituality. See these striking forms amid the flowers before they leave September 25.
