Had the misfortune of sitting through their sparsely attended set while waiting to see a touring band at the Media Club on Record Store Day. After a heart felt plea from my boyfriend to punch him squarely in the face if his hair ever started to resemble the hair of anyone in this band, we decided this was the ideal soundtrack for walking somewhere else to buy cigarettes.
My gut feeling is this is music for people who don't actually enjoy music. While I'm sure the band cares very much about what they're producing, I found myself and others around me struggling to.
V.? Mom is that you on here?! Jesus Mom! You don't like our hair, you hate our sound, you won't let us practice in the basement anymore, you drag Doug your douchey new boyfriend to the gig, and then you go out for smokes right before the big drum solo!! Fer' Chrissakes Mom! I told you leave me alone! I will mow the lawn on Saturday! And leave me pizza money when you go to Bingo tonite!
La Chinga rocks. One of the best live bands I've seen in YVR. I've seen them numerous times and have always been impressed with their level of musicianship and stage presence. I think all bands have their rough shows and to judge a band the way that "V" did in her comment is incredibly shallow and disrespectful. Keep it fucking rocking La Chinga! Keep Rollin them Snake Eyes!
