Artist's talk: Doris Buttignol on film and feminism

Doris Buttignol is a France-based documentary film maker who launched the DVD One of Many in Vancouver earlier this year.

The film was shot over ten years with filmmaker Jo Béranger. It documented Sally Tisiga, a member of the Kaska Nation, and her attempts to reconcile the experiences of aboriginal citizens and the Canadian residential school system.

Buttingol also currently has an exhibit at Centre A called The Living Blanket/La Couverture Vivant until November 7.

She'll be speaking about this exhibit, her film projects, and her approach to art practice at a talk at the Vancouver Art Gallery (Room 403, 750 Hornby Street) on Oct. 30 (7 p.m.).

The talk is being presented as part of WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution, which is focused on contemporary feminism.
