The B.C. Liberals don't want John Slater running for reelection in Boundary-Similkameen under party's banner. So, the former Osoyoos mayor is saying sayonara to the B.C. Liberal caucus and will sit in the legislature as an independent.
Eff. Today, I will be stepping down as a member of the BC Liberal Caucus and will sit as an Independent for the rest of the session #bcpoli
— John Slater (@JohnSlaterMLA) January 14, 2013
In a party news release, B.C. Liberal president Sharon White said that Slater's candicacy was rejected due to "personal issues that, in our view, impact his ability to represent the Party".

Personally, I don't care if John Slater can represent 'the Party'. John Slater was elected to represent his constituents not the party executive.
