Canucks lose 3-2 to Oilers in shootout
Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo turned away 30 of 32 shots by the end of overtime, but the Canucks still came up short at Rogers Arena against the Edmonton Oilers.
After a 2-2 tie at the end of overtime, the visitors won the shootout, taking two points.
The Canucks had to settle for just one point over two games after being thumped 7-3 last night at home by the Anaheim Ducks.
Alex Edler and Zack Kassian scored for the Canucks tonight, giving them a 2-0 lead as the second period entered its final minute.
The Oilers' Jordan Eberle brought the visitors within one at 19:56 of the second frame, and Ales Hemsky tied things up at 14:05 of the third period.
Six second later, Oilers tough guy Ben Eager fought Kassian, with both going into the box with five-minute majors. Some questioned whether Kassian, who was on the first line, should have dropped the gloves with a fourth liner like Eager.
On the upside for the Canucks, new defenceman Jason Garrison was plus two on the night, as was captain Henrik Sedin.
