B.C. NDP leads by 15 percent  A new Angus Reid poll shows the B.C. Liberals are up two points to 31 percent; the B.C. NDP is way out ahead with 46 percent; and the B.C. Conservatives and B.C. Greens are tied at 10 percent.

Liberal leadership debate  In a debate at the Westin Bayshore, Vancouver Quadra MP Joyce Murray was the only federal Liberal leadership candidate who urged cooperating with the NDP and Greens to defeat the Conservatives.

Outdoor smoking ban  The Canadian Cancer Society has called on the B.C. government to prohibit smoking on all B.C. outdoor bar and restaurant patios and in all parks and playgrounds.

Barbara Walters hospitalized  The View host Barbara Walters fell down some stairs at an inauguration party over the weekend, resulting in a trip to the hospital. She will miss Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony today.  

Vancouver Canucks lose in shootout  After two home games, the Canucks are still winless after coming up short in the shootout last night against the Edmonton Oilers.

49ers and Ravens in Super Bowl  The San Francisco 49ers edged the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 to win the NFC championship. The 49ers are favoured in the Super Bowl over the Baltimore Ravens, who beat the New England Patriots 28-13 to win the AFC crown.
