The Georgia Straight presents Matt Mays at the Commodore

Live Nation has announced that Canadian rocker Matt Mays will perform—with guests July Talk—at the Commodore Ballroom on Thursday, March 28, in support of his fifth album, Coyote.

A few years ago the Halifax local embarked on a journey to rediscover his sound. Traveling to Mexico, California, Indonesia, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and New York, Mays used surfing, yoga, and a ukulele as tools to bring him closer to the melodies and words different places inspired. In the resulting album, Coyote, Mays found what he was looking for.

“I've always loved animals that are beautiful but dangerous,” he explains. “It's a good analogy for life. Coyotes are native to Canada, Mexico, and the United States and that's where I lived while writing this album.”

Tickets for the show are priced at $25 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (January 25) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at Red Cat Records, and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
