Testosterone-torqued Still Standing You daringly pushes the bounds of "dance"

Rest assured, you've never seen anything like Still Standing You, Pieter Ampe and Guilherme Garrido's work at the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.

Think caveman grunting, mounting and dry humping, play fighting, belt-whipping, and ass massages. There's no music to soothe these savage beasts.

One reviewer has called it Jackass in the form of contemporary dance. Others have said it is closer to gymnastics and wrestling than dance. Some have called it unforgettable; some have called it too much.

Is it dance? Is it sadomasochism? Is it about masculinity and all the weird male-bonding rituals that skirt the line between homoeroticism and aggression? God knows. Check out the snippet here and decide for yourself, and see it live and in the outrageous flesh (unlike in this video, there is definitely nudity) at the Scotiabank Dance Centre from January 29 to 30 and February 1 to 2.
