      Langara College’s Studio 58 (100 West 49th Avenue) brings the hit Broadway musical Spring Awakening to Vancouver for the first time from January 31 to February 24. The winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical was written by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik based on the play by Frank Wedekind.

      Spring Awakening is set in 19th century Germany and follows a group of teenagers through self-discovery and emerging sexuality. The controversial musical contains adult situations and language, and is not suggested for young children.

      Studio 58’s production will feature direction by David Hudgins, musical direction by Andy Toth, choreography by Shelley Stewart Hunt, set design by Shizuka Kai, costume design by Marina Szijarto, and lighting design by Alan Brodie.

      Evening shows run Tuesdays to Saturdays and start at 8 p.m. Matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays start at 3 p.m. Tickets start at $21.75, with the exception of $10 Tuesdays performances. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone at 604-684-2787.
