Video: Flooding in Montreal sweeps pedestrian away

    1 of 4 2 of 4

A water main break today (January 28) has left much of downtown Montreal—including McGill University's downtown campus—underwater.

The break, which took place near the McTavish Reservoir, has dumped thousands of gallons of water into the city.

Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area, and those occupying lower-level offices in on-campus buildings are encouraged to get to higher ground.

As it always happening in an emergency situation, some wag will ignore the warning while a keen passerby will record the action and upload it to the Internet.

In that spirit, please enjoy this video of a person attempting to cross a flooded street only to get swept away.

      (Don't worry, she was fine!)

Yes, all classes on campus are cancelled for the evening.

Stay safe and dry, mes amis!

Many students are trapped on campus due to moat-like conditions.
