Skating with the Canucks: A dream come true for transgender student

      Patrick Burke, who helped launch and headed up the You Can Play campaign to increase equality for queer athletes, just tweeted a feel-good story that can provide hope for queer people and allies interested in positive social change.

      Cory Oskam, who transitioned from female to male, is a 16-year-old high school student who celebrated his sweet 16th birthday with something truly sweet: meeting and hitting the ice with his idol, Vancouver Canucks goaltender Cory Schneider, at Rogers Arena.

      And in fact, Oskam chose his name because of Schneider.
