Roberto Luongo leads Canucks to 2-1 victory over Blackhawks

Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo turned aside 27 shots and Jordan Schroeder scored in the shootout, helping the Canucks win a 2-1 squeeker over Chicago.

The Canucks were up 1-0 on a first-period goal by Alex Edler, thanks to a heads-up pass from Zack Kassian.

But the 'Hawks evened things up at 9:42 of the third period when Patrick Kane snapped a shot past Luongo on a pass from behind the net.

The Canucks killed all five penalties against a team with genuine snipers.

But the Vancouver power play struggled again, failing to convert on four Chicago penalties. That included a 30-second two-man advantage in the third period.

Luongo has a 1:46 goals-against average and 0.944 save percentage after allowing just three goals in three games.

He was also superb in the shootout, stoning Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp, and Nick Leddy.

Aftward, Luongo expressed regret about losing the lead, which enabled the 'Hawks to win one point. But he was happy with the team's overall performance.

"We played our system extremely well," he said.
