In only two years, the Khatasahlano! Music and Art Festival on West 4th Avenue has established itself as the city's leading free, one-day showcase of indie music.

If there's any doubt, check out this new video by Warmland Films from last year's event.

In less than five minutes, you'll see the Zolas, Bend Sinister, Oh No! Yoko, the Ballantynes, Ladyhawk, Ali Milner, and Portage and Main—as well as a cameo appearance by Nardwuar the Human Serviette.

"West 4th was the coolest strip on Earth for that day, and that's what we want to build on," says Grant McDonough, a cofounder of the festival and owner of Zulu Records.

This year's festival takes place on July 13.

Grant McDonough of Zulu Records spearheaded the creation of the Khatsahlano! Music and Arts Festival.
