Live Nation has announced that British pop-soul singer-songwriter Jessie Ware will perform a show at the Commodore Ballroom on Monday, April 8, as part of the Straight Series.
With her soulful, melancholy vocals, elegant songwriting skills and, of course, that striking slicked-back hair, Ware marks a new era for pop. Her debut album, Devotion, combines the modern feel of downtempo R&B and British electronic music.
"I wanted to combine electronic with a more classic songwriting," Ware explains. "I didn't want it to feel too 'of now', so that's why I went back to beats and grooves of things I loved before, like Prince and Chaka Khan and Grace Jones. I wanted to make downer R&B, and songs that are beautiful and bittersweet, like Sade. It was just about mixing it up in the right way."
Tickets for the show are priced at $20 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (February 8) at 10 a.m. but Straight readers can take advantage of our exclusive presale and price from Wednesday (February 6) at 10 a.m. to Thursday (February 7) at 10 p.m. by going to the Live Nation website and submitting our exclusive presale password ware.
A limited number of tickets will be available through the Straight presale for the lower price of $15 (plus service charges and fees).
Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at Red Cat Records, and at all Ticketmaster Outlets.
