Legendary tango pianist Pablo Ziegler is joined on stage by violinist Regina Carter in a one-night engagement called Tango Meets Jazz. The concert, which marks Zigler’s return to Vancouver since touring with Astor Piazzolla, will take place February 16 at 8 p.m. at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road).

Born in Argentina, Ziegler is considered one of the world’s foremost tango musicians. He has won Latin Grammy Awards as a pianist, composer, and arranger, and has led his own groups, including his current quartet, for more than 20 years.

Carter was born in Detroit and her musical style is rooted in jazz, with influences from R&B, African, and classical music. She has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, Lauryn Hill, and Billy Joel, and was a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Grant.

Tickets to Tango Meets Jazz are $36 to $72 and are available online, by phone at 604-822-2697, or in person at the Chan Centre ticket office.
