Video: Covered Roots: The History of Vancouver's Chinese Farms

The Chinese Canadian Stories project has done a marvellous job of informing the broader community about the struggles, sacrifices, and influence of the Chinese Canadian community.

Spearheded by UBC historian and St. John's College principal Henry Yu, it addresses such questions as why so many small towns have a Chinese Canadian café and why Chinese-aboriginal marriages have been forgotten. (For an examination of the latter question, you can also check out the latest edition of Ricepaper magazine.)

The video above tells the history of Vancouver's Chinese farms. It's part of the Chinese Canadian Stories project, and was created by Alejandro Yoshizawa and Wendy Phung.
