The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Haunted

The world premiere of Haunted opens at the Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre (950 West 41^st Avenue) on February 27 and runs until March 3.

Haunted by 25-year-old Toronto playwright Daniel Karasik was the 2011 winner of the Canadian Jewish Playwriting Competition. The play follows a mother named Abby, whose husband’s death encourages her to start attending synagogue. However, when Abby befriends a young rabbi named David, she starts to feel that friendship turning into something more. Meanwhile, Abby’s daughter claims that she spends time with her father’s ghost.

This production of Haunted stars Carmel Amit, Kayla Deorksen, Patrick Sabongui, and Kerry Sandomirsky. The production is directed by Katrina Dunn, with set design by Pam Johnson, costumes by Sydney Cavanagh, lighting by Adrian Muir, sound by Jeff McMahn, and projection design by Tim Matheson.

Evening performances on February 27, 28, and March 2 start at 8 p.m. Matinee shows on March 1 to 3 start at 2 p.m. An evening performance on March 3 begins at 7 p.m., and March 2^nd’s matinee event will include a talkback after the performance.
