      B.C. Hydro caught manipulating market  The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has concluded that several companies, including B.C. Hydro subsidiary Powerex, manipulated the California energy market in 2000. It could cost B.C. ratepayers hundreds of millions of dollars in damages.

      Sullivan snares B.C. Liberal nomination  Former mayor Sam Sullivan handily defeated former MLA Lorne Mayencourt and lawyer Brian Fixter for the B.C. Liberal nomination in Vancouver–False Creek. More information is available here.

      NDP questions if budget is balanced  NDP Leader Adrian Dix has declared that the B.C. Liberals introduced their "fifth deficit budget in a row". To support this claim, he cited asset sales, a questionable $545-million profit from B.C. Hydro, and the removal of $223 million in projected spending from the last budget.

      Human-rights lawyer travelled 6,000 kilometres  The Human Rights Watch lawyer who wrote a recent scathing report on the RCMP in northern B.C., Meghan Rhoad, says that as part of her research, she travelled 6,000 kilometres around the province over five weeks.

      Missing man found dead  The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has  revealed that Surrey resident Vimal Chand, 29, was found dead inside a car. He had been missing since February17.

      Water tested in hotel where student died  After Los Angeles police discovered the dead body of UBC student Elisa Lam in a tank on top of the Cecil Hotel, officials have begun testing the water for contamination.

      Stock markets tumble  European markets fell by 1.5 percent and North American markets opened down this morning. This was after the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting minutes showed that stimulus measures might boost "risks of future economic and financial imbalances". 

      Duvalier tries to stay out of court  Former Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier has filed an appeal to get out of facing charges of committing crimes against humanity. More details are available here.

      Pistorius investigator faces attempted murder charges  The bail hearing for South African Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius took a strange twist when it was revealed that the lead detective, Hilton Botha, faces charges for attempted murder. He's been pulled off the case.

      Jannik Hansen suspended  Canucks forward Jannik Hansen will be out of the lineup tonight against the Dallas Stars. This comes after he was suspended for a game for his hit to the head of Blackhawks star Marian Hossa.
