Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake announce tour  Billed as the Legends of the Summer Tour, Grammy Awards collaborators Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake will play 12 dates this summer, including Vancouver on July 31.

Flu vaccine provided little protection  The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has revealed that this year's flu vaccine offered protection against the season's worst strain for only nine percent of seniors, and only 27 percent protection for seniors against three strains.

Fraser Health switches vaccine  CBC News has reported that the Fraser Health Authority has used an adjuvanted, targeted flu vaccine to boost the effectiveness to 70 percent among seniors.

Justice Minister objects to Kits base closure  Shirley Bond will hold talks with federal officials about the Kitsilano Coast Guard base, which was padlocked on provincial budget day on February 19.

Councillor points to federal hypocrisy  Vancouver councillor Kerry Jang has hammered the federal government for spending $6.6 million on a new Coast Guard facility in Burin, Newfoundland. This came shortly after savings of a mere $700,000 a year by shutting Vancouver's base, which is beside the busiest port in Canada.

Flooding closes Trans Canada Highway exit The Kensington off-ramp from Highway 1 is closed indefinitely after a washout.

Bailey Bridge reopens  An 18-year-old, one-lane wooden bridge connecting New Westminster and Coquitlam will reopen today after being out of commission for 10 days.

Oscar Pistorius gets bail  The judge labelled the Blade Runner's explanation for the death of his girlfriend as "improbable". But because Oscar Pistorius is not a flight risk, he was granted bail for CDN$100,000 before facing trial for murdering Reeva Steenkamp.

Alert sent before Indian explosions  The Times of India has reported that Home Ministry officials say they sent an alert to all states on February 19 and 20—just before two bombs ripped through a Hyderabad market—that Pakistan-based terrorist groups may be planning to strike. The warning suggested "probably attacks" following the execution of Ajmal Kasab, the only man captured after the November 26, 2008, attack on Mumbai.

Air France–KLM posts big loss  Higher fuel costs are being blamed for a 47 percent rise in the annual net loss at Air France–KLM, which ended up about CDN$1.57 billion in the red.
