BC Place-bound Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake no longer an odd couple

It's a pairing that, 15 years ago, would have seemed completely insane. In one corner, you've got the former street-corner crack dealer Shawn Carter. In the other you've got a squeaky clean white son of a Tennessee Baptist minister. Can you say an Odd Couple that would impress both Jack Klugman and Tony Randall? By all coventional logic, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake should go together about as well as Ted Nugent and Morrissey, not to mention drinking and driving, the Toronto Maple Leafs and playoffs expectations, and dreadlocks and white people.

Despite all that, today's announcement that Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake will be co-headlining BC Place somehow not only makes perfect sense, it also makes for the no-brainer concert event of the year. The duo's double-billed Legends of the Summer tour hits the Dome on July 31, 2013.

As anyone who's every cranked the stereo to "99 Problems" will confirm, Hova traffics in a brand of hip-hop that the most pasty-faced honky can get jiggy with. As for Timberlake, he's successfully transitioned from boy-band N*STYNCER to an urban music superstar who's not only brought sexy back, but sounded completely credible doing so. Tickets for this one are going to go faster than a Madonna/Paul McCartney double bill, so get camping out by that Internet connection when they go on sale February 28.

I think he was part of boy-band 'N Sync... not N*STYNCER.
