Roberto Luongo hopes to continue his unbeaten streak in 2013 (not counting shootout losses)

Vancouver Canucks will have Roberto Luongo in the net this afternoon in the Motor City against the Detroit Red Wings.

"They're a good team, they're a skilled team," Luongo told reporters, later adding that "those guys are dangerous and can make plays out of nothing."

Luongo posted his second shutout of the season on February 22 in a 1-0 victory against the Nashville Predators.

His goals-against average of 1.45 leads the league and his 0.941 save percentage is second, only behind Ottawa netminder Craig Anderson.

Luongo is unbeaten this year through the overtime periods with five wins and three ties in eight starts. However, he's lost three out of four shootouts.

Today, Luongo will face some scoring punch: Henrik Zetterberg has 22 points on five goals and 17 assists, and Pavel Datsyuk is two behind with eight goals and 20 assists.

The Red Wings are fourth in the Central Division with 19 points in 18 games.

The Canucks are leading the Northwest Division with 24 points in 17 games.
