B.C. trained filmmaker killed in plane crash

John Driftmier, a director and cinematographer who attended SFU's film program, was killed in a plane crash in Kenya on Sunday (February 24). The 30-year-old was filming aeriel footage for the second season of the Discovery Canada show, Dangerous Flights.

The pilot also died in the crash.

Although his extensive resume is heavy on rugged and demanding programs like Highway Thru Hell, License to Drill, and Ice Pilots N.W.T., it's perhaps more fitting, given the news, to commemorate Driftmier's work with this placid time-lapse reel from his website.
