      TransLink announces bus changes  Following a public-consultation period, TransLink has decided to make changes in late 2013 and early 2014 to more than 30 bus routes.

      Charges laid in Jonathan Bacon murder  The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and the RCMP have announced first-degree murder charges against three men—Jujhur Khun-Khun, Michael Kerry Hunter Jones, and Jason Thomas McBride—in the 2011 slaying of Red Scorpions gangster Jonathan Bacon. The trio, who are linked to deceased gangster Sukh Dakh, also each face four counts of attempted murder. More details are available here.

      Park board may hold more talks  The Vancouver park board has voted to allow for more public consultations after a new joint operating agreement is negotiated with community-centre associations. The vote came after a motion by NPA commissioner Melissa De Genova was amended.

      East Fraser Lands report goes to council  A Vancouver staff report has recommended that council vote today to let the director of legal services reach a deal with Western Forest Products. This would let the company make use of the Fraser River adjacent to the new River District community in South Vancouver.

      Council considers another Chinatown tower  Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday (February 27) before voting on a rezoning application for a 16-storey tower at 633 Main Street. Last week, council approved a 17-storey tower to be located at 611 Main Street.

      Liberal MLA condemns chlorination  Tonight, opponents of chlorination in Chilliwack will speak to the Fraser Health Authority at a public meeting; meanwhile, Chilliwack MLA John Les, parliamentary secretary to Premier Christy Clark, has called chlorination "lunacy", according to the Chilliwack Times

      Wallin carries Ontario health card  The Toronto Star has revealed that Saskatchewan Conservative senator and former CTV broadcaster Pamela Wallin holds a health card from Ontario. Prince Edward Island Conservative senator and former CTV broadcaster Mike Duffy also has an Ontario health card.

      Oxford rocked by racial allegations  A Guardian freedom-of-information request has revealed that a far higher percentage of white students than nonwhite students were admitted to Oxford University in 2010 and 2011, even when they got the same A-level marks.

      Iran angry over Argo Oscar  An Iranian news agency, mehrnews, noted that film critics concluded that Lincoln was the best movie, but claimed Argo won the Oscar for best picture because "Hollywood insiders are sacrificing quality and artistic cinema to political slogans and distortions".
