The 24th annual Festival du Bois takes place at Mackin Park from March 1 to 3. The festival is the largest Francophone festival in Western Canada, held in the Maillardville neighbourhood  of Coquitlam.

This year’s festival features great family-friendly live music and entertainment, as well as ice sculptors in action, a children’s activities tent, shopping, and delicious food such as poutine, maple taffy on snow, and pies.

Artists attending this year’s Festival du Bois include Quebec folk music trio Genticorum, family band Dentdelion, Quebec band Les Poules à Colin, a cappella singers Le Bal à l’huile, aboriginal artist Dallas Arcand, homegrown bluegrass band Alouest, one-man comedy show Acme Circus, Brazilian-infused six-member group Matuto, Persian music-inspired Vashaan, Montreal-born Frenchie the Clown, entertainer Major Conrad Flapps, storyteller and ventriloquist Roger Dallaire, B.C.’s one-woman circus Sand Northrup, Scottish piper René Cusson, and French-Canadian folk singer Dejah Léger.

The festival kicks off at 7 p.m. on March 1 at the Terry Fox Theatre for the 100th anniversary of Port Coquitlam. On March 2, the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on March 3, the festival will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 to $12 (and $30 for a family of four), and can be purchased online in advance.
