Iggy and the Stooges preview new track, "Burn"

As a Fun House loyalist, it breaks my heart that guitarist Ron Asheton's last stand with the Stooges had to be the 2007 reunion stinker, The Weirdness (reviewed very favourably by Mike Usinger, here, but then HE WOULD SAY THAT).

After Asheton's death in 2009, James Williamson got his chance to rejoin Iggy Pop and drummer Scott Asheton, and—along with Mike Watt on bass—three quarters of the band that made Raw Power hit the studio with the intention, presumably, of not dumping all over their legacy again.

This preview is hot off the presses, and yeah, between its ear-bleeding sonic qualities and a lick that isn't a thousand miles from "Gimme Danger", it appears that Mr. Williamson might have kicked things back into shape.

Ready to Die is in stores April 30.
