Artist leaves Superman project over Orson Scott Card criticism
With illustrator Chris Sprouse announcing that he is leaving Orson Scott Card’s upcoming Superman project, it appears that there’s no end in sight to the controversy swirling around the popular sci-fi author and his homophobic opinions.
In a statement, Sprouse said that “The media surrounding this story reached the point where it took away from the actual work, and that's something I wasn't comfortable with."
According to USA Today, although DC Comics fully supports Sprouse’s decision and looks forward to working with him on upcoming projects, the company said that “in the meantime, we will re-solicit the story at a later date when a new artist is hired."
Good luck with that.
