While chowing down on a burger or sushi at a shopping mall food court, the last thing you might expect to see is some Irish dancing.

But that’s exactly what shoppers at Pacific Centre were treated to during a brief, surprise performance.

The “flash mob” event was staged on March 13 by a group of young dancers from local academies, according to CelticFest Vancouver officials.

The impromptu dance show comes as the annual celebration of Irish culture is under way across the city.

CelticFest Vancouver features more than 70 adult and family friendly events and runs from March 9 to 17.
