Lecture by Conservative MP Stephen Woodsworth cut short by pro-choice activists
On March 13, a group of pro-choice activists cut short a talk by Conservative MP Stephen Woodworth at the University of Waterloo.
Video of the sparsely attended talk shows a loud group of protesters—including a man wearing a vulva costume—shouting about reproductive rights and the "freedom of all cunts".
"Why are you concerned about his safety and not the safety of our uteruses?" one protester is heard shouting in the video.
According to the National Post, the interruption to Woodworth's talk began with a woman awarding him a trophy for being “Kitchener-Waterloo’s Nastiest Misogynist”.
Woodworth is the Kitchener Centre backbencher who last year introduced private member's motion M-312 in an attempt to reopen the abortion debate in Canada.
In a comment to anti-choice mouthpiece LifeSiteNews, Woodworth said—without a trace of irony, mind you—that he didn't blame the university, "for the actions of a tiny minority of extremists whose single-issue preoccupation with abortion causes them to disregard democratic values such as freedom of speech, respectful dialogue, and the recognition of the equal worth and dignity of every human being."
Well said, Mr. Woodworth, kudos.
Oh, wait... you weren't talking about yourself and your anti-choice cohorts, were you? Kudos revoked!
Ellen Rethore, associate vice-president of communications and public affairs at the U of W, says an investigation into the disruption will be launched and that Woodworth is welcome to return in the future to spew more nonsense.

My favourite was the story that referred to the costume as "female genitalia". I like to think it was because they couldn't properly identify parts of a woman's anatomy.
