Just when things were starting to look bleak for the Vancouver Canucks, they've peeled off a three-game winning streak.

This afternoon in Los Angeles, Cory Schneider was sharp in the net and Mason Raymond's eighth goal was all it took to defeat the Stanley Cup–defending Kings 1-0.

The Kings outshot the Canucks 20-13, and Vancouver's power play failed to capitalize on all three opportunities.

But the Canucks' gritty play in the third period, including a late blocked shot by Chris Higgins, was enough to give Vancouver its 16th victory in 31 games.

The Canucks are tied with Minnestota with 38 points on top of the Northwest Division, but the Wild have a game in hand and two more victories.

Vancouver will wrap up its three-game road trip tomorrow night in Colorado.
