Bus ads ask: why do we eat Babe but not Lassie?

The Vancouver Humane Society is getting the attention of commuters with its new bus ads.
"We hope it encourages people to think about their food choices," the local nonprofit says on its blog.
In light of the well-publicized horse-meat scandal in Europe, VHS could replace the dog with a horse and ask the same question.

It's an excellent point. We should be eating more dogs.

As much as I don't particularly care to eat dog I don't have a problem with it. When it comes down to it a living animal is a living animal. I eat pork, beef, fish, chicken and so forth. If I was offered dog, yeah I'd probably give it a try. It's more a mental issue than moral. Having dogs bred for human consumption is just the same.
