Grave of Dylan Thomas damaged by badgers

The grave of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas has recently been the subject of unwanted activity from the local badger population.

Located in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, Thomas's grave can be found in the churchyard of St. Martin's Church. It is often a stop on a literary pilgrimage to spots significant in Thomas's life, like the boathouse near his home where he wrote and a hotel where he drank.

Noting the significance Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire MP Simon Hart said that "this is a very beautiful graveyard and obviously a place of great meaning, not only to Dylan Thomas fans who visit it from all over the world, but to families with loved ones buried there."

He goes on to note that "the badgers have caused a lot of damage, digging up the top few inches of soil so that it looks like a ploughed field in places."

I guess the badgers still resent having to study “Do not go gentle into that good night” in high-school English class.
