This is, of course, awesome news for the South African Film Festival and Education Without Borders (and those fortunate folks who managed to grab tickets ahead of time), but not terribly great news for those of you looking for something to do tonight.
So instead we are suggesting you get your ass to the Rio Theatre for the 9:15 p.m. showing of Greedy Lying Bastards, a hard-hitting documentary that illuminates the greasier sides of the fossil fuel industry.
"Presented in Michael Moore guerilla style by filmmaker Craig Scott Rosebraugh, the film offers a slam-dunk case against the retrograde forces we’re up against—especially when he crashes a shareholders’ conference and gets ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson to admit that climate change is real," writes the Straight's Adrian Mack in this week's issue.
Read his review of the film here: Greedy Lying Bastards pulls no punches.
Greedy Lying Bastards also plays at the Rio from April 14 to 16.
Tickets are $12 (adults), $10 (students), and $8 (seniors). Get 'em at the theatre or online at riotheatretickets.ca.
